About Me

“When I disappeared into the wild to remember who I was, I found someone I’d forgotten existed.”

I’m Ffion – a wilderness and holistic wellness therapist, herbalist, and outdoor skills teacher whose path to healing led through the deepest woods and back again. After surviving serious illness and the trauma of abuse, I’d lost myself so completely that I couldn’t even remember what my own voice sounded like anymore, let alone feel like I could trust again – myself or others. So I did something that worried everyone who knew me: I disappeared into the wild for a year. Alone.

It wasn’t about escaping – although it also kind of was considering the situation I inadvertently found myself in – the important part was about remembering. Remembering who I really was, who we really are as human beings underneath the façades we’ve created.

Out there, with no mirrors except still water and no voices except my own thoughts, I learnt that real strength lies in how you choose to rebuild. The land became my therapist. Movement became my medicine. Cold water became my teacher rather than enemy. And bit by bit, I found myself again, and I was amazed to discover I’d never really acknowledged her and all her strength, resilience, and capabilities – we are all capable of far more than we give ourselves credit for.

That year taught me what my hands could do when they learned to work with natural materials, showed me that the quiet confidence of knowing you can build shelter, make fire, and sleep sound under ancient stars changes something fundamental about how you move through the world. It revealed that healing happens not through avoiding discomfort, but through finding meaning within it.

Now, I share what saved me with others who’ve lost their way. But I don’t just teach these methods – I live them. I walk my talk because authentic healing requires someone who’s travelled the path themselves – honestly.

That path has recently taken an unexpected turn. After decades of managing what appeared to be a collection of separate chronic conditions, I was diagnosed with MCAS – Mast Cell Activation Syndrome – a complex immune condition that turns out to have been the single thread running through all of it. The fibromyalgia, the hypertension, the vertigo, the neurological symptoms, years of unexplained and compounding difficulties that I simply accepted as my normal. All of it, one condition that nobody joined up until now.

What I discovered in the process is that everything I had built Feral Therapy around – the cold water, the movement, the breathwork, the herbal protocols, the time in nature – was what I had been doing to keep myself functional all along, long before I had a name for what I was managing. The practice was always built from lived necessity. The diagnosis simply confirmed what the results had been showing for years.

I’ve come to intimately understand the dance between honouring our limitations and refusing to be defined by them. Living with multiple chronic conditions has taught me that movement isn’t punishment for what our bodies can’t do – it’s celebration of what they can. Your body is not your enemy. Your limitations are not your worth. And your choice to keep moving, in whatever way you can, is never too small to matter. I reflect this by being Disability Confident registered, and by offering inclusive and accessible experiences based on individual needs.

My outdoor experiences, workshops, and in-person events are fully booked for 2026 whilst I navigate the acute phase of my diagnosis and pursue the treatment and research that this has opened up. The work itself has not stopped, it is more important than ever.

I am currently available for online naturopathy and herbalism consultations, with a specialism in chronic illness support, and for speaking engagements. I am also writing – the memoir now has its complete ending, and alongside it a growing body of work on chronic illness, healing, and the kind of hard-won practical knowledge that accumulates when you spend years finding solutions that conventional medicine didn’t have.

Outdoor experiences and workshops will reopen when the time is right. In the meantime, sign up to the newsletter to follow the work

Living with serious chronic illness has taught me that movement isn’t punishment for what our bodies can’t do, it’s celebration of what they can, and sometimes that celebration is quieter and more hard-won than anyone on the outside can see. I reflect this by being Disability Confident registered and by offering inclusive and accessible experiences based on individual needs.

I hold extensive qualifications spanning wilderness skills, therapeutic practices, movement, herbalism, and naturopathy. But beyond the certificates, I bring something more valuable: lived experience of what it means to come back from the edge, to rebuild yourself piece by piece, to discover that the wild self you’re seeking has been waiting patiently all along.

Your path toward healing will look nothing like mine. But if you’re ready to step beyond the familiar, to remember what you are beneath all the conditioning, to discover that you’re braver than you believe and stronger than you know, then perhaps it’s time for your own unique conversation with the wild.
