Talks & Speaking

“Stories have power when they’re lived before they’re told.”

I speak about what I know intimately – the kind of knowledge that emerges from combining academic qualifications with direct, lived experience. These talks draw from both rigorous study and seasons of putting that knowledge into practice, from the theoretical foundations that inform my work and the real-world testing that reveals what actually works when theory meets reality.

The story behind my upcoming book – what drove me to sell everything and disappear into the wild for a year, what I discovered in storms and silence, how the land became my therapist when conventional approaches had reached their limits. This isn’t a romanticised adventure tale but an honest account of using wilderness immersion for healing trauma, rebuilding identity, and discovering what becomes possible when we learn to trust our own instincts again.

These talks explore the practical realities of extended wilderness living, the psychological journey of stripping away everything that isn’t essential, and the profound shifts that occur when we remember how to listen to teachers made of stone, water, and wind.

How we’ve engineered discomfort away in just one century and why this matters for our physical and mental health. The science behind why wild places heal, what happens to our nervous systems when we step beyond the digital noise, and practical approaches for bringing nature connection into modern life without requiring dramatic lifestyle changes.

I speak about the difference between visiting wild places and truly inhabiting them, why time moves differently when we’re genuinely present, and how the artificial urgency of contemporary life dissolves when we remember natural rhythms we’ve forgotten we possessed.

Talks covering any aspect of the skills I teach and live by – from foraging and herbalism to bushcraft and wilderness survival. These presentations balance practical knowledge with deeper understanding of how these capabilities rebuild confidence, self-reliance, and authentic relationship with the natural world.

Topics include seasonal living, reading weather and natural signs, plant medicine and wild food, fire-making and shelter building, and the psychological transformation that occurs when we develop skills our ancestors would recognise as essential for human thriving.

Following my personal experiences, I’m often asked to speak about narcissism, Machiavellianism, and psychopathy – what these personality patterns look like in practice, how they impact relationships and communities, and strategies for recognition and protection. These talks blend psychological understanding with lived experience, offering practical insights for identifying manipulative behaviour and rebuilding after exposure to psychological abuse.

Exploring women’s historical contributions that mainstream narratives often overlook – from traditional healing knowledge and plant medicine to leadership roles, survival skills, and the essential work of maintaining cultural wisdom across generations. These talks examine how reconnecting with historical women’s knowledge and capabilities can inform modern approaches to resilience, community building, and authentic empowerment.

Each talk is crafted for its specific audience and setting, whether that’s intimate community groups, professional organisations, educational institutions, or conferences. I speak about what I know deeply rather than what sounds impressive, drawing from lived experience to offer insights that can’t be found in textbooks.

All speaking engagements are individually arranged based on your organisation’s needs, audience size, and preferred format. I’m comfortable with everything from intimate fireside gatherings to formal presentations, always adapting the delivery to serve the people in the room rather than following a predetermined script.

The stories I tell have been lived before they were shared. The knowledge I offer has been tested in real conditions, not just academic theory. This authenticity forms the foundation of every presentation, ensuring that what you receive isn’t just information but genuine wisdom earned through direct experience.

For speaking enquiries, please contact me directly to discuss your specific needs, audience, and how these stories might serve what you’re hoping to create or explore together.
