Wellvolution – Mind-body fitness class

Wellvolution & Wellvolution Express: Unlock your inner strength

Next Wellvolution Express intake starts in May 2025 at Blakenhall & District Village Hall

What to bring:

  • Water bottle
  • Mat (I do have spares until you can get one!)
  • Sweat towel
  • Blanket (optional for comfort during cooldown/relaxation sessions)

What to wear:

Whatever you feel comfortable doing exercise in! Lycra, old trackies, shorts, come as you are! Just please ensure that footwear is safe for training and clothing is respectful to others.

What to expect:

During the first session we’ll go through sign-up & welcoming, get everyone set up on the WhatsApp chat & email support mailout (full WV only), then we’ll discuss how we’re going to progress, plus visit any concerns, worries, or goals people have.

Things will be different on the first week, but a typical 90-minute/60-minute Express weekly session is thoughtfully divided into three dynamic segments:

1. Corrective Exercise, Mobility & Injury Prevention (30 mins full class / 10-15 minutes Express class): Enhance your mobility and safeguard against injuries with targeted exercises. This session may include: breathwork, pilates, gentle yoga, barre, static & dynamic stretching, movement assessment, corrective exercise prescription to help you on your way, and more! We’ll also spend time goal-setting & getting motivated here!

2. Mindful Strength Training & High-Intensity Workouts (30 mins for both classes): Boost your power and endurance through strength training, isometrics, and bodyweight exercises, or power up with HIIT & circuits! This session may include: Yang styles of yoga or weighted yoga, barre, bodyweight drills, circuits, BootCamp style training, HIIT, plyometrics, swiss balls, kettlebell training, and other weighted equipment – balls, bags, steps, resistance bands, etc, and more!

3. Recovery & Rehabilitation (30 mins for full class/10-15 mins for Express class): Promote muscle recovery, good quality rest & sleep, & learn body-mind relaxation to reduce cortisol with effective mindful rehabilitation & wellness techniques. This session may include: breathwork, static & dynamic stretching, myofascial release & self-massage techniques, and discussion of sleep, nutrition & lifestyle tips, and more! This is also your time to feedback to me how things are going, what you have found useful/not useful & for us to form an outline for the next session together!

You’ll also receive weekly emails with you personal program (full class only) and WhatsApp support whenever you need it.

FAQS

Q: When does it start? And where?

A: Express 60-minute classes start in May 2025 at Blakenhall & District Village Hall. FIRST & SECOND INTAKES FOR FULL 90-MIN CLASSES ARE NOW CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

Q: How do I book?

A: To register interest, please contact us. As we get closer to the start date, we’ll post new information here and on our Facebook page and keep in touch with updates for those who have registered interest.

Q: Do I need to bring anything with me?

A: A mat for comfort is recommended and a bottle of water. Loose or stretchy, comfortable clothing is also advisable. Footwear is optional and we request no outdoor shoes, please leave them to one side to avoid tripping.

Q: I’m really nervous about attending alone!

A: If you’d like me to meet you at the entrance or would like a chat before the session, let me know. Everyone will be made to feel very welcome, this is a non-judgmental and supportive space, it is your space, and you are very welcome here.

Q: Can men attend?

A: Absolutely! Everyone is welcome πŸ™‚

Q: I’ve never done anything like this before, can I still come?

A: Yes! You will be guided all the way through and we will work up from the basics building gradually as we go. All classes will be aimed at the level of attendees.

Q: I’m not fit/flexible, can I still come?

A: Absolutely! There are no fitness requirements to join the Wellvolution! Fitness, flexibility and mobility will improve as you practice.

Q: Is this a course or can I start at any time?

A: It is a habit-forming practice, a series of learning sessions based on the needs and interests of those present aimed at forming a sustainable healthy lifestyle. Everyone is more than welcome to join us at any time.

Q: I don’t have a mat or any props.

A: No worries! I have several mats that I can lend out during sessions.

Q: What if I have questions during the session?

A: We will pause between each approach, please feel free to ask questions at this point. I will also ask how people are feeling or for feedback on what we just did throughout the session. If you need anything at all but if you feel you do not want to interupt, do not worry! Raise your hand and I will come over to you.

If you are particularly interested in revisiting/repeating or learning something specific PLEASE do let me know! I really value feedback and try my best to design classes around the needs of those who attend.
