Frequently asked questions

Q: How do I book with you?

A: For events and workshops: Please book through our shop where at all possible. Many events/workshops have limited ticket availability due to venue size or to ensure that we respect outdoor locations. Sales through the shop prevent overbooking. If you are having problems with the process, payment can be made via PayPal or bank transfer and must be completed before booking information is sent. This can run the risk of overbooking for popular events as someone may book via the shop before your make your payment, so please contact us first to ensure that we reduce stock availability via our web shop before sending your payment over. Unfortunately, we cannot take payment over the phone by debit or credit card.

For private/custom/bespoke events: Please contact us to arrange private events. These will be confirmed with you in writing and an invoice sent. Payment must be made in full or a non-refundable deposit of 20% paid to secure your booking, followed by a balance payment a week before the event takes place. Please see our terms and conditions for more information.

For classes: Payment can be made in cash on arrival, or via PayPal or bank transfer before the class begins.

For sessions advertised through third party websites: This only applies to our deep relaxation and breathwork retreat on Craft Courses. Please book using the payment facility on the third party website. If you have any issues, please contact them directly (and let us know too!), we have no control over their systems but will offer as much help and advice as we can.

Booking, payment, and other terms and conditions are available here.

Q: Why don’t you publish exact locations for some events prior to booking?

A: This ensures that anyone who has not booked cannot turn up to private events or venues. We want to ensure that we treat the locations that we visit respectfully, responsibly, and sustainably by preventing unannounced/unbooked/unpaid participants arriving at space-limited, private or sensitive locations. Some of the locations we use are not open to the public, for these reasons we ask that you do not share event location information with interested parties who have not booked. It also prevents groups becoming too large to be practical, or large enough to impact the environment/venue in an unsustainable way. It also prevents payment/insurance/safety/comfort issues, and confusion on the day that may eat into session time. We also want to be able to support you fully, so we need to know who is arriving and if there is anything we can do to make your time with us as enjoyable and as safe as possible.

Q: I’m booking for more than one person, do I need to inform you of this?

A: If booking for yourself and others, or booking as a gift, please let me know the name and email address of the other guests. This will ensure that I have an accurate list of those attending, can be sure that all people who arrive have a paid place, and so I can send any accompanying documentation, information, waivers, or PDFs directly to them.

Q: Do you offer gift vouchers?

A: Yes, we do! These are available in the shop, but if you can’t find exactly what you are looking for, please contact us and we will be happy to help.

Q: I’ve not received my booking/confirmation/PDF or other email!

A: All booking emails and any downloads (such as terms and conditions sent with every booking) or further instructions are sent automatically and immediately once a booking is complete. If you do not receive an email within one hour, please check your spam/junk folder. If you have not received a confirmation email within 12 hours, please contact us and we will send another. We will also contact you again 48 hours before the event is due to take place, but please feel free to contact us in the meantime. If your event includes a PDF handbook, this will be sent within 24 hours after the event has taken place. Please add hello@feraltherapy.co.uk to your contacts list/trusted senders to avoid emails being sent to your spam/junk folder.

Q: Are your outdoor events very physically demanding?

A: All our outdoor events are suitable for people of average mobility and fitness unless specified as a resilience or survival level event. All events require demonstrations, teaching time, or time to stop and look closely at finds. Foraging is a slow pursuit, we need time to spot things, stop to look at and learn about them, harvest them, and time to talk about the law, ethics, and sustainability of foraging, so we will be stopping frequently. As a member of the Disability Confident Scheme, we also run events that are suitable for those who require the use of a mobility scooter or wish to bring children in buggies. The event information will state if this is the case. Please be aware that events are run in all weathers so suitable clothing must be worn for your comfort and safety, failure to do so may prevent you from attending the session for safety reasons. Any activities are voluntary, you are welcome to observe or get as involved as you like.

Q: Do I need to bring anything with me to a class, session, or event?

A: Any requirements will be listed on the event information, confirmed via your booking email, and again at the follow-up email sent 48 hours before the event. For those booking bespoke private events or sessions, this will be confirmed in writing to you via email.

Q: I have a health condition, disability, or additional needs, can I still attend/will the event/session be suitable for me?

A: Please contact us for more information. As a member of the Disability Confident Scheme, we will do everything we can to make reasonable adjustments, but some sessions may simply be unsuitable. We can only advise you on an individual basis and any information you give to us will be treated in the strictest of confidence.

Q: Can we bring children/dogs?

A: Event information will give details on this. Pets are not allowed at any indoor event and many outdoor events, this is to ensure the comfort of everyone present and the safety of your pet. Not all humans or other animals like the company of dogs and this must be respected. Children are welcome to attend most events, those that are unsuitable or only suitable for older children will state this clearly in the descripton. Please consider if your child would enjoy the activity, be comfortable outside for 3-4 hours, or sitting at a table indoors for several hours before booking on their behalf.

Q: I can’t make it, can I get a refund or transfer my ticket?

A: Please refer to our terms and conditions and contact us as soon as you become aware that you can no longer attend so that we can assist.

Q: I’ve never done yoga before, are your classes suitable for me?

A: Absolutely! Please refer to our Asanastart yoga FAQs for more information.

Q: I’m vegetarian, vegan, have an allergy or religious dietary requirement, is your session suitable?

A: We welcome everyone at Feral Therapy! Our leader has no personal dietary requirements due to being required to live off completely wild food diets at times for projects and research which requires eating an omnivorous diet to be possible, although they were vegetarian for 11 years and they do have allergies. Talks about wild food/foraging may include information on meat/animal derived products, as well as touching on subjects such as conservation that may include pest control and/or humane species management. This is to help educate attendees on lawful, ethical countryside management rather than a reflection of their personal opinion of these methods. Occasionally, such as the Totally Wild Body Care and First Aid Workshop, sessions will involve the use of animal products, in this case wild, ethically sourced deer tallow. Should animal products feature physically during a session, rather than in verbal teaching materials, this will be stated clearly on the event discription and alternative ingredients will be taught as part of the session but may not be available to use during the session, this is simply because there is no practical wild alternative to vegetarian or vegan fats. Honey and beeswax may also feature in herbal remedy workshops. There will never be any requirement for you to handle them if you attend for information purposes and other non-animal derived products will be available for you to get hands on with or take home with you. Allergies should be reported before booking to ensure your safety. We operate a no tolerance policy and expect everyone’s choices, beliefs & needs to be valued and respected. Failure to do so may resort in you being asked to leave an event. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us before booking the event.

Q: Are you insured?

A: Absolutely! I hold insurance cover with Westminster Insurance, my policy number and link to insurance certificate can be viewed in our resources area as can my professional memberships and affiliations.
